Book Signing Party was Fun

// October 23rd, 2010 // No Comments » // Books

Thanks to all the wonderful guests who came to purchase signed books yesterday.  It seemed like everyone had a great time… Homebaked cookies for the kids, wine for the adults, and great company!  Fittingly, the kids alternated between running around madly (inside & outside) and playing video games.  Today’s kids are always straddling two worlds – digital entertainment and old fashioned kid fun.  It makes Danny in a Newfangled World so perfect a read!

Here are a few pics from the event.

Read All About Unique Middle Grade Book

// October 12th, 2010 // No Comments » // Books

There has never been a better time for this kind of storybook.  Kids across North America (well, the world really) spend hours on the internet every week.  While web sites and parent articles about internet safety abound, there’s not much out there to really appeal to the kid.  They’re tired of being preached to (not that we’re going to stop…)  And it’s not because they don’t understand that safety is important, but they’re kids after all.  And kids wanna have fun.

Danny in a Newfangled World is an exciting cyber adventure tale that will appeal to the millions of kids who love video games because it’s about a kid just like them… who gets a chance to go right inside his computer.  How cool is that?  He embarks on a crazy adventure and learns a few things about this digital world.  It’s not all fun and games, after all.

This book is written for kids – so don’t expect it to be too heavy on the moral message.  Kids are smart – they’ll just put it down if they see a book as a ploy to preach to them.  It’s a fun book that, deep down, has some darn important messages about the internet.  And, if by the end of the book, a young internet surfer learns that he or she needs to look out for the hoobogey, then that child is that much more cautious online.  And that’s a good thing.

Official Book Launch Date

// August 1st, 2010 // No Comments » // Books

I’m so excited to announce that Danny in a Newfangled World will be officially available on September 26th.  A list of web sites and book stores carrying copies will be posted closer the date.  The book is moving closer to publication every week.  My boys are loving the pictures, such as this one, showing Danny Lenesky meeting his new friend, Jingo.  The book is written for kids between the ages of six and ten who have a particular interest in video games… I know there are a few kids out there that fit that description!

This will make a great Christmas gift!  Sure, most children will be begging for video games (and if they’re anything like my boys, will certainly have at least a couple to open on Christmas morning), but it’s important to balance the electronic entertainment frenzy with some good old fashioned reading material.  So, get them a book that, at least, is about something that they are truly interested in… Video games.  Maybe in a couple years the book will even be sold as a video game!  Wouldn’t that be ironic.
